Journeys especially office tours can be really overwhelming. There is the tiredness of the journey, the lack of comfort we get at home and some amount of homesickness too. Self care while you are on trips and journeys becomes something we often forget and many a times we suffer from severe emotional meltdowns along the way. So today I am going to share with you super quick, super easy and super effective practices for self love and self care while you are out on a vacation or an office tour. So lets get started.
The twenty minute listening practice
This has proved to be one of the most effective and lovable practices for me while I am out on an office tour. And all it takes is twenty minutes. So the very first thing that I do before I even step out of the bed in the morning is listening to an audiobook or podcast. These twenty minutes act as a super healer as what I listen to is positive and inspiring. And listening to it first thing in the morning tunes my subconscious mind to the frequency of love and healing. I follow the same practice before going to sleep as well.
While we sleep, our subconscious mind is really active. So whatever we feed it with just before bedtime is stored and this stored content produces positive thoughts. I wake up in the morning feeling lighter and a lot better.
The podcasts “Permission Granted” by Shaina Leis and “The Lavendaire lifestyle” by Aileen Xu are super awesome. As far as audiobooks are concerned, “The Universe has your back” by Gabrielle Bernstein, “Whatever arises love that” by Matt Kahn,”A return to love” by Marianne Williamson, “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert are some of my favourites.
Affirmations for healing
There will be times when simple healing affirmations will be super effective. Affirmations by Louise Hay on youtube and audio downloads by Syma Kharal have helped me through the toughest times in my life. Simply listening to something so pacifying aids the healing process.
Deciding your affirmation for the day
When you are feeling super low or stressed out, you lack clarity. Your mind is clouded with so many thoughts you arent even aware of them. Bringing awareness to your thoughts brings clarity which speeds up the healing process.
So here is a simple practice I did this morning which proved to be pretty beneficial. As my journal wasnt around, I took out my phone, took a nice long deep letting go breath and started listing down the thougts that were haunting my mind. This is what I wrote-
1- I am feeling homesick.
2- I am afraid that I wont get a suitable placement in the firm.
3- I am worried that I wont be able to find a suitable accomodation.
And I went on writing until I had written down all my thoughts. Then looking at these thoughts I decided my affirmation for the day which was “I am worthy of a beautiful life.” Just two to five minutes of meditating on your affirmation and the work is done. I use self hypnosis instead and if you too are interested in giving it a try, the book “Close your eyes, get free” by Grace Smith is the perfect literature to start with. I have been using self hypnosis for months and it has played a great role in helping me regain my peace of mind.
Sacred solo time
So this time the hotel room I booked has a balcony attached to it. Since my family is staying with me too I feel its really important for me to have some sacred solo time. Though its pretty cold and dark outside at the moment, I went out and stood there gazing at the beautiful night sky. A few minutes of solo time in the embrace of nature can really serve as a natural detox.
