A powerful stretch meditation for SURRENDER

The most common cause of stress is that at a deeper level we are all trying to control the things which we know we have no power over. Yet we not only think but overthink about them and it makes us feel awfully overwhelmed. So today I am going to share with you my stretch meditation to surrender all thats not under your control. This meditation is inspired by the youtube channel blogilates’ stretch videos and a few basic yoga poses. You should be very gentle with yourself. You can push yourself a little but not to your breaking point.

You can do this stretch meditation on the bed or on your yoga mat, whichever is more comfortable for you. I advise you to watch the blogilates stretch videos and first do the stretches along with the video to get into the flow. Once you feel that you know the exercises well, then you can follow the meditation below.

Sit up straight on the bed or your mat making sure that your legs are straight in front of you and you are not sitting cross legged. Now slowly place your right foot over your left thigh, your left leg being straight. Bring both your hands upto your left calf region or your left foot, whichever feels better. As you start feeling the stretch, bring to notice what all are you worried about. Maybe you are worried about your grocery shopping or you are worried about adjusting in a new town or an upcoming job interview. Whatever it is, allow it to come up. Now take a nice deep inhale and on the exhale, release it all. Let it all go. Say out aloud or silently in your mind,” I know that I have no control over this. I am letting it go.” Repeat the same exercise on the other side.

Notice how much relaxed and better you are already feeling. Now sit down cross legged and lift up your right foot and place it on your left knee. Keeping your shins parallel, use your right elbow to push down your right knee. Allow all those things to come up which are making you feel uncomfortable and/or unhappy. Whatever it is, even if its a small journey or an important meeting coming up, let it all come up. And now taking few nice deep breaths, repeat these words,” I surrender this to divine grace.” Repeat these words a few more times until you begin to feel better. And now for the other side, sit cross legged and place your left foot over your right knee. With your shins parallel, use your left elbow to push down your left knee. Allow all those things to come up which are making you feel uncomfortable and/or unhappy. Whatever it is, even if its a small journey or an important meeting coming up, let it all come up. And now taking few nice deep breaths, repeat these words,” I surrender this to divine grace.” Repeat these words a few times until you feel better.

Now get up and sit up with your knees and shins touching the mat. Bring your right foot forward  and bend forward so that your right knee is straight under the right shoulder.Place both your hands pressing down on your mat to the left side of your right foot. Now turn the sole of your right foot facing towards your hands. As you feel your body relax and open up, take a few nice deep letting go breaths. Bring to focus the situation thats causing you trouble. Repeat the following words our aloud or silently to yourself,”I dont know how, I dont want to know how but I know that I will survive this.” Repeat this as you feel the soothing stretch relax and open up your body. And now for the other side, sitting with your knees and shin touching the mat, bring your left foot forward and bend forward so that your left knee is straight under your left shoulder. Place both your hands pressing down into the mat on the right side of your left foot. Now turn the sole of your left foot to face your hands. As you feel your body relax and open up, take a few nice deep letting go breaths. Bring to focus the situation thats causing you trouble. Repeat the following words our aloud or silently to yourself,”I dont know how, I dont want to know how but I know that I will survive this.” Repeat this as you feel the soothing stretch relax and open up your body.

As your body opens up with these stretching exercises, the words and phrases used in the meditation allow your heart and mind to open up. Trying to catch hold of things and being a control freak makes us feel awful. Do this stretch meditation to open up and relese control so that the universe and your guardian angels can step in to take care of you.beautiful-cute-enjoyment-460307
