This post is an inspiration for those times when we feel stuck in certain areas of our life. This post is inspired by my own experience. A few years ago, I was on a boat ride along with my brother on a beautiful lake which was adorned with man-made water fountains. We had chosen a nice swan-shaped paddling boat and were enjoying our happy ride. I wanted to have a closer look at the fountains, so we decided to ride a bit closer to them. But as we approached one of the fountains, my brother just stopped paddling the boat. I have no idea why he did that. I didnt have sufficient strength to move the boat by paddling it alone. So the boat took its own direction and we were caught under a huge fountain of water completely drenched and trapped. Luckily, I encouraged my brother to start paddling again and we rode away from the fountain.
Sometimes, as we ride on the waters of life paddling our life-boats along with our inner wise woman, we stop participating in the paddling process. Sometimes we are afraid or we just dont know what to do. Our inner wise woman is always there paddling the boat and encouraging us to do so as well. But we just cant bring ourselves to put our foot on the paddle. And then we complain of feeling drenched by misery.
What we need to understand is that our inner wise woman knows which way to go. She knows how to reach to a safer place but she can only take you there once you start paddling which metaphorically implies participating in the beautiful process of co-creation with the universe. Paddling may have different meanings as per your circumstances. It might mean taking inspired action or it may even mean to wait patiently until you receive further guidance. This incident taught me that we are not mute spectators in our life events. Its true that we may not know which way to go, we may not know where the smoother waters are and we may not even know where the waters are taking us. But all that is being taken care of by our inner wisdom which always knows the way back home. All we need to do is participate.
Sometimes paddling also implies doing nothing thus allowing the situation to unfold naturally. This means that you are paddling not caring about whats happening as your inner wise woman is taking you to smoother waters and you enjoy the view trusting her completely. Trust is a very powerful spiritual weapon. You cannot reach smoother waters if you do not allow your inner wisdom to take the lead. Now just imagine if on our boat ride my brother wouldnt have listened to me and hadnt resumed paddling or if he would have started turning the boat into any random direction, it would have all been a mess. Luckily, that didnt happen. We too need to simply paddle and allow our inner wiser selves to guide us on the waters of life back to safety.
