Letting go (A lesson taught by fireflies)

I saw a picture of a jar glowing because it had fireflies in it. Though it was glowing and looked beautiful, it made no sense to me. Why trap the creatures of light in a cage and prevent them from spreading their light?

This is what we do to our relationships when we refuse to release our strong hold on them. You may have parted ways with a friend or lover or they may have grown emotionally distant. But a part of you cant let them go. You have done all that you could do only to realise that your absence makes no difference in their life.

When you hold on to the fear and the resentments, you are actually trying to trap the glowing fireflies in a glass jar. If you really love them, then why do such a stupid thing which prevents your love from reaching them.

Open that jar of fear and let out the fireflies of love. They may not bring back the person you are dreaming of, but they will surely reach them and light up their world. Why be selfish and hold on to that jar? Thats not a jar of hope. Thats a prison of fear.

Fireflies glow on the earth just  as the stars shine in the sky. If  the stars adorn the night sky, the fireflies beautify the midnight gardens. You may look at the stars and think of them, but if you truly love them, you wont wish for them to return. You will release those fireflies and make a wish upon every star that they find fireflies in all adult-boat-candle-265823dark places and remember not your name, but their own worth which makes you miss them so much.
